only one constant.
have you learnt the art of being who the world wants you to be? saying what people want to hear. doing what people want to see. appearing when people want you there. disappearing when they don't want you there. and not feel anything.
it's about losing the attachment.
it's about losing the high hopes you've placed on the world.
for there's really nothing to hope for. where promises are made and broken within a day. where people and circumstances change faster than the tide. what is said today can be nullified tomorrow. we can only aim to change as fast as our world turns. to mould ourselves to adapt to this ever-changing landscape. adopt the capabilities of our little microorganism counterparts who have managed to survive to this day and age despite the advent of antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals and whatnot.
that's the secret to adaptability to a harsh world. you be as small and numerous as possible. and the simpler your mechanisms, the easier to adapt. you develop resistance. natural selection. the simple but sophisticated are the ones who survive.
when you wonder, we actually already know the answer.
there's only one constant.
but that should be enough. I just need to be convinced by myself that it is.
