debut

ok finally a debut entry in this new blog new skin.. it's already 2009 and when I look back at events that happened in 08 and 07, it doesn't seem all too far away.. vivid memories.. but then this place I call home has moved on.. I guess we can't expect things to remain the same for us. Reshuffling, revamps, additions, deletions. What a dynamic universe we all live in..

Which brings me to a very recent change in me. I've become very hooked on a TV series recently.. Kyle XY. About this amazing guy (intelligent would be an absolute understatement) cloned and created with an erm awesome brain. ok no. like what the show said, we all have relatively the same brain, just that this kyle guy uses much more of it. hah. and the show goes on to talk about how he not only uses that brain of his to solve problems that even the greatest mathematicians and physicists take hours to solve. He is also able to err harness that energy from his brain to do things like move a glass of water and explode skylights. Something to do with ions. Like W-O-W. ok I don't really need to those special mind-over-body-walk-on-fire-without-getting-burnt thing, but that superb memory? I could really use some of that.

and today I tried to cook. "tried" is the keyword. yea well it was edible and in fact it did taste quite not bad. but yea drama over the stove. have you ever heard of anyone who forgot to cut the vegetables before throwing them into the pot? well I did. and when I tried to just eat these uncut bak choys with my noodles, I had the nasty experience of half a bakchoy down my throat while the other half is still in the process of being chewed in my mouth. Not nice. so I had to cut my cooked bakchoy. Funny. That was about it. Not so much drama after all but I didn't know whether to curse or laugh. Over a simple dish of fishball noodles.

ah well chinese new year is approaching and thank goodness I won't have to be in anyway involved in the cooking process for our getting-simpler-every-year reunion dinner. Not sure whether that is more of a relief to me or others at the dinner table. But whatever. Just a good thing.

It's really funny but for some reason I don't look forward to the goodies and chinese new year junk food anymore. Mum said I'm just controlling myself to feel less bad about my now defunct diet plan. hmmm. I don't really think so. Firstly, I never HAD a diet plan. period. hah. I just realised I stopped getting ill so frequently when I cut out those tonnes of chocolates I stuffed myself with in the past. So like having not been ill for quite sometime (and enjoying illness-free days), just looking at all those pineapple tarts, haebeehiams, bakkuas etc makes me feel a sore throat coming up at the back of my oropharynx. And a cold is something I would like to postpone for as long as possible. So no cny goodies. Ok. Some should be fine. Talk about self-discipline. Well as far as many people are concerned, self-discipline never really existed especially in the period of chinese new year.

As for the time being, it's just awaiting a nice long weekend with family and friends. And making the most out of whatever is left of this summer vacation before I have to plunge back into Aussie land.
